Staff Accountant

Full-Time | Remote | Starting at $85,000/year

We are hiring a Staff Accountant to support the VTP corporate accounting function. This is a full-cycle role with real responsibility from day one. You will work directly with the Controller across all portfolio entities, handling month-end and year-end close, payroll journal entry posting, AR/AP, bank reconciliations, sales tax filings and financial reporting. This is a position that requires a strong accounting background and self-sufficient, detail oriented and goal focused.

Note: We strongly prefer candidates with experience in the home service industry, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or roofing. Immediate interviews will be scheduled for qualified candidates with home service industry experience. Our goal is to prioritize applicants who can hit the ground running.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own full-cycle accounting across assigned portfolio entities including month-end and year-end close.

• Post weekly payroll journal entries to the GL from ADP payroll reports across multiple entities.

• Process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain clean, accurate account balances.

• Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns on time.

• Assist with financial statement preparation and budget-to-actual reporting for ownership review.

• Support acquisition onboarding by assisting with books cleanup and integration into the accounting structure.

• Follow SOPs for accounting processes as the portfolio grows.

• Internal operations teams as needed.

• Assist with ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects assigned by the Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in the home service industry, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or roofing

• 2+ years of full-charge or full-cycle accounting experience (multi-entity experience preferred).

• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop.

• Hands-on experience with ADP payroll journal entry posting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance.

• Ability to manage multiple entities and competing deadlines without losing detail.

• Clear, direct communicator who can work independently in a remote environment.

• Experience with ServiceTitan, Melio, Bill.com is a plus but not required.
