About This Role

Lead the Field. Elevate the Team. Drive Results.

Are you the kind of person who loves a scoreboard — not because you want to win alone, but because you want to see your entire team win with you?

At Malone Painting, we’re a fast-growing residential repaint contractor in St. Louis, and we’re looking for a Production Manager who thrives on hitting goals, improving processes, and leading people to do their best work together.

If you’re energized by solving operational puzzles, coordinating schedules and teams, and using technology to drive performance, this role offers the perfect combination of structure, challenge, and opportunity. And because this job directly impacts production outcomes, your compensation grows as production performance improves.

About Us

Malone Painting is one of St. Louis’ top residential painting companies, known for clear communication, professionalism, and a customer experience that feels refreshingly easy. We use modern systems, scheduling tools, and AI-powered workflows to stay organized, responsive, and ahead of the curve.

We compete with yesterday’s version of ourselves — improving processes, raising standards, and celebrating team wins. We work hard, communicate clearly, and challenge each other in a supportive, collaborative way. We’re looking for someone who enjoys that level of accountability and wants to grow with a company that’s leveling up every year.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As Production Manager, you’ll strategize, plan, and execute the daily and weekly production schedule to ensure every project finishes:

On time

On budget

On margin

At or above our customer satisfaction targets

You'll coordinate people, materials, schedules, and job requirements like a field general — staying organized, solving problems early, and keeping communication tight across crews, office staff, and trade partners.

Your key responsibilities include:

Production Leadership

Manage and support crews and trade partners to deliver high-quality work consistently

Lead daily/weekly planning meetings to align people and resources

Ensure projects follow scope, timelines, safety standards, and company processes

Use mobile apps, scheduling tools, and reporting dashboards to monitor progress in real time

Relationship & Team Management

Build strong relationships with customers, crews, the office team, vendors & trade partners/subcontractors

Maintain clear, professional communication from project start to finish

Address issues early, hold people accountable, and elevate performance through coaching

Conduct on-site visits to support crews, verify progress, and confirm quality standards

Quality, Margin, and Customer Satisfaction

Protect job margins through planning, accurate labor allocation, and proactive problem-solving

Keep projects clean, safe, documented, and customer-ready at all times

Ensure customer satisfaction through communication, follow-through, and service quality

Monitor customer feedback and respond quickly to concerns to improve outcomes

Process & Performance Improvement

Use KPIs as your scoreboard to evaluate performance and adjust workflows

Identify inefficiencies and collaborate with leadership to improve systems

Embrace new tools and technology that make our operations more effective

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Your results will be measured by three core KPIs:

Gross Margin on Projects Managed

Total Revenue Produced

Customer Satisfaction Scores

Your job is to orchestrate the moving pieces so projects run smoothly and profitably — and your compensation grows as production performance grows. As the company grows, so do leadership opportunities for our best performers.

WHAT YOU BRING

You might come from painting or construction, or you may come from another leadership environment where you’ve learned to manage people, solve problems, and keep operations organized. What matters most is your mindset and your commitment to our culture.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has a goal-oriented mindset and enjoys seeing progress through measurable performance

Wants their team to win and contributes to a positive, accountable environment

Can have direct, clear, and respectful hard conversations — and is committed to getting better at them

Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence and can communicate effectively with customers, crews, office staff, and trade partners

Embraces technology to solve problems

Painting or comparable trade experience

Knows how to organize complex workflows, adjust schedules, and keep multiple jobs on track

Can balance structure (process, planning, organization) with the competitive drive to improve results

Enjoys collaborating, being challenged, and challenging others in a positive, professional way

Brings stamina and resilience to a fast-paced, evolving environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Valid Drivers License and insurable driver's record.

3+ years experience in a leadership, production, operations, logistics, or trades role

Strong organizational, scheduling, and communication skills

Experience leading people and holding them accountable

Comfort using project management apps, mobile tools, and technology

Preferred but not required:

Experience in painting, construction, remodeling, or similar fields

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Familiarity with job costing, labor planning, or margin management

We are open to high-potential candidates with less industry experience who demonstrate the mindset, leadership qualities, and capacity to learn the trade quickly.

Job Benefits:

-Highly competitive base salary (weekly pay) plus earning growth tied to production capabilities

-Paid time off and company holidays

-Company vehicle and gas after 3–6 months of successful onboarding

-Health insurance, with voluntary dental and vision coverage

-Life insurance (basic and voluntary)

-401(k) retirement plan

-Employee referral bonuses

-A supportive, growth-oriented culture where craftsmanship, customer service, and technology are valued

WHO THIS ROLE IS PERFECT FOR

You thrive with clear targets, a scoreboard, and consistent feedback

You want to work in a performance-oriented, collaborative environment

You embrace technology as part of how modern operations run

You enjoy coaching people, solving problems, and improving systems

You’re not afraid of direct conversations and see them as tools to create positive outcomes

You want to be part of a team that is growing, improving, and winning together
