Assistant Project Manager (Commercial Painting)

Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing commercial painting projects from award through closeout. This position works closely with customers, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and office staff to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and with a high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the daily management of multiple construction projects.

  • Coordinate project startup activities and prepare project documentation.

  • Issue purchase orders

  • Track project schedules, budgets, and job costs.

  • Assist with change orders (PCOs/COs), and documentation.

  • Process submittals, RFIs, closeout documents, and project correspondence.

  • Coordinate material orders and deliveries.

  • Communicate with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Monitor project progress and help resolve issues as they arise.

  • Maintain accurate project files and documentation.

  • Attend project meetings as needed.

  • Support billing by gathering required documentation and assisting with invoice processing.

  • Ensure all project information is entered and maintained accurately within Procore and Vista.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in construction project coordination or project management preferred.

  • Commercial construction experience preferred.

  • Commercial painting or coatings experience is a plus but not required.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

  • Experience with project management software (Vista, Procore, or similar) is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
