About This Role

Alta Bella Casa is hiring a Light/Heavy Equipment Operator & Carpentry Technician in Rochester, NY, with pay of $28 to $40 per hour based on experience. You will operate heavy equipment and execute hands-on carpentry on the same job — often on the same day. On an egress window install, you are running the machine to open the site, then you are in the hole framing the rough opening, managing site flow, and moving the project forward without waiting on anyone else. This is a high-trust, high-independence role for someone who has mastered both sides of the trade.

Who You Are

• You are a skilled operator with real equipment hours — skid steers, loaders, and excavators — not just passing familiarity.

• You have genuine carpentry skills and can frame rough openings, execute structural blocking, and finish clean.

• You can tow a truck and trailer safely and confidently.

• You solve problems on site without needing direction on every decision.

• You carry yourself professionally on a homeowner's property.

• You bring 5 to 6 years in the trades with at least 3 solid years across both Light/Heavy equipment operation and carpentry, a valid insurable driver's license, and reliable transportation.

What You Will Do Each Day

• Operate skid steers, loaders, and excavators to prep sites, move material, and open foundations.

• Execute carpentry tasks — rough framing, window rough-ins, structural blocking — on the same day as equipment operation.

• Tow equipment and materials between job sites safely.

• Manage site workflow and sequencing to keep projects on schedule.

• Assist with light plumbing rough-ins as part of egress window installations.

• Interact professionally with homeowners throughout the project.

• Document progress through photos and job notes in our project management system.
