Phoenix Exteriors is one of the Midwest’s leading premium roofing and solar companies specializing in high-end residential roofing systems, Tesla Solar Roofs, luxury composite roofing, standing seam metal, battery storage, and advanced solar installations.

We are seeking a high-level Solar Operations Manager to help scale and professionalize our rapidly growing solar division.

This is a leadership-level operational role for someone who already understands residential solar construction, permitting, utility interconnection, scheduling, and project execution at a high level.

We are NOT looking for an entry-level coordinator or someone we need to train from scratch.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of operations, solve problems independently, move projects forward aggressively, and create structure and accountability throughout the process.

The right candidate will work directly with ownership and become a critical operational leader inside the company.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Managing residential solar operations from signed contract through installation and PTO

• Reviewing permit plan sets for accuracy and completeness

• Coordinating directly with electricians, installers, engineers, AHJs, and utility companies

• Managing municipal permitting and corrections efficiently

• Handling ComEd utility interconnection processes

• Managing Illinois solar incentive workflows including Illinois Shines, SREC, and rebate administration

• Driving project timelines aggressively to avoid delays and bottlenecks

• Scheduling roofing and solar projects across multiple crews and calendars

• Coordinating inspections, service calls, corrections, and project closeouts

• Communicating proactively with customers throughout the project lifecycle

• Building systems and operational accountability as the division grows

• Identifying operational inefficiencies and helping improve processes company-wide

The Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of residential solar operations or project management experience

• Strong understanding of residential solar construction and electrical systems

• Ability to review and understand solar permit plan sets

• Experience working directly with AHJs, inspectors, utilities, and permit departments

• Strong knowledge of Illinois solar programs and interconnection processes

• Experience with ComEd utility approvals preferred

• Experience coordinating crews, inspections, and construction schedules

• Highly organized with exceptional follow-through

• Able to operate independently without constant oversight

• Strong communicator who can lead conversations with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams

• Roofing experience is a major plus

• Tesla Solar Roof, battery storage, or premium solar system experience is highly preferred

Compensation

• Base Salary: $100,000 – $120,000+ depending on experience

• Performance-based bonus structure
