About This Role

Company is seeking an experienced Natural Gas Compressor - Technical Sales and Support professional to join our Sales department in Odessa, Texas. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth through solution-based selling of natural gas compression equipment, parts, and services, while providing post-sale technical support to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term retention. The ideal candidate combines hands-on compressor expertise with strong commercial acumen and a customer-first mindset.

In this role, you will manage a defined territory, develop and qualify opportunities, prepare technical proposals, support sizing and selection, collaborate with engineering and operations, and provide onsite and remote technical assistance for commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization. You will maintain a robust pipeline, deliver accurate forecasts, and ensure timely follow-up from initial contact through close and after-sale support.

Key responsibilities include:

- Drive new equipment, retrofit, rental, and service sales for reciprocating and rotary screw natural gas compressor packages

- Perform application engineering: gather process data, size equipment, select drivers, configure controls, and propose fit-for-purpose solutions

- Prepare quotes, technical proposals, and scopes of work, including P&IDs, datasheets, and commercial terms in coordination with internal teams

- Conduct site visits, surveys, and start-up support; troubleshoot performance issues related to compressors, engines, PLCs, VFDs, and ancillary systems

- Build and manage relationships with producers, midstream operators, EPCs, packagers, and service partners

- Maintain CRM hygiene, opportunity stages, win/loss notes, and 30/60/90-day forecasts; meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs

- Coordinate with supply chain, production, and service for lead times, delivery schedules, and after-market support

- Provide product training, lunch-and-learns, and technical seminars for customers and internal stakeholders

- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform strategy and product positioning

- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards during field visits and customer interactions

Success in this position requires strong technical fluency in gas compression applications, the ability to translate complex requirements into commercially compelling proposals, and a proactive approach to customer service. The position is based in Odessa, Texas with regular regional travel to customer sites and occasional travel to fabrication facilities and conferences.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in natural gas compression sales, applications engineering, or field service supporting reciprocating and/or rotary screw compressor packages - Proven track record meeting or exceeding sales targets in upstream/midstream oil and gas markets in the Permian Basin or similar region - Strong knowledge of compressor thermodynamics, performance curves, rod load, valve selection, pulsation/packaging considerations, and gas processing fundamentals - Hands-on familiarity with engines and drivers (natural gas engines, electric motors), controls/PLC, VFDs, and instrumentation common to compression packages - Ability to read and develop PFDs/P&IDs, datasheets, isometrics, and equipment specifications; competency with sizing tools and OEM software - Experience preparing technical and commercial proposals, scopes of work, and T&Cs; comfortable negotiating price, delivery, and contract terms - Proficient with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office; strong pipeline management and forecasting discipline - Excellent communication, presentation, and customer relationship skills; consultative selling approach with high urgency and follow-through - Self-starter able to work independently in the field and collaboratively across engineering, operations, supply chain, and service teams - Willing and able to travel regionally 50–70% as business requires; valid driver’s license and clean driving record - Ability to perform site work including climbing ladders, walking equipment yards, and donning PPE in varying weather conditions - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent technical experience considered - Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (API 11P/619, ASME, OSHA) is a plus - Residency within commuting distance of Odessa, Texas preferred; relocation assistance may be considered
